Attempts have been made by Chinese authorities to shut down Kavehfarrokh.com. They sent e-mails to University of British Columbia in Vancouver and the London-based WAALM-SCD institute but these were ignored as China has no legal claims on Kavehfarrokh.com nor do they have any authority to impose their views upon Western universties. The e-mails are available for viewing below.
It is unclear why Chinese authorities would want Kavehfarrokh.com to shut down. It is known that Iranian authorties (who have barred access of kavehfarrokh.com inside Iran) have close political links with China.
The e-mails can be viewed below:

Dear Manager,
We are a Network Service Company which is the domain name registration center in Anhui, China. On December,7th,2010, We received QUNDI Company’s application that they are registering the name “kavehfarrokh” as their Internet Trademark and “kavehfarrokh.cn”,”kavehfarrokh.com.cn” ,”kavehfarrokh.asia”domain names etc.,It is China and ASIA domain names. But after auditing we found the brand name been used by your company. As the domain name registrar in China, it is our duty to notice you, so I am sending you this Email to check. According to the principle in China, your company is the owner of the trademark, In our auditing time we can keep the domain names safe for you firstly, but our audit period is limited, if you object the third party application these domain names and need to protect the brand in china and Asia by yourself, please let the responsible officer contact us as soon as possible. Greetings to Dr. Dorbayani and the WAALM Editorian Staff,
The e-mail below is essentially a scam operation. The very same e-mail was had been sent to the University of British Columbia’s Continuing Studies to Ms. Jxxxx. The domain name has been registered and re-newed on xxxx. The designer of the Kavehfarrokh.com website, Mr. xxxxhad checked the domain name back in 2008 and no such name had been registered by any user.
It is possible that this is part of the overall efforts of the Islamic Republic of Iran to block the Kavehfarrokh.com website – the Tehran regime has very close political ties with China. Recall that the Chinese firm tried the same scam with the University of British Columbia just weeks ago.
My Best Regards
Kaveh Farrokh
