Kaveh Farrokh’s book, “Shadows in the Desert: Ancient Persia at War” was awarded as the Best History Book of 2008 in London on October 31st, 2008 by the WAALM Society’s Persian Golden Lioness Awards – cited also in BBC Persian.

The second printing of Shadows in the Desert featured the WAALM Persian Golden Lioness Award of “Best History Book” on its book jacket (on top right hand corner – white circle with Golden Lioness inset):

The book was cited twice in the Kayhan Newspaper of London in relation to its nomination as the Best History Book of 2008. See the report also in Academia.edu:

The book was also nominated as being among the top three history books of 2008 by the Independent Book Publishers Association for the Benjamin Franklin Award in the US.

This means that Farrokh’s book has been cited thrice internationally in 2008 by independent reviewers for excellence in historiography.
